Beginning on her long journey of research in 1989, Thea visited the inland of modern Turkey with her mother, staying the night at an old Armenian mansion refurbished and turned into a pansion, as the time seemed right to get her in touch with her family past and heritage. Only it occured to her that everything she described was perfect, realising it was Thea's journey, her heritage, her history as well. 1992 was the year she started writing the book, leaving her love for art and painting at that time behind, as she thought of words as so important. Reading parts of "The Great Giveaway", the author who honoured the public with her visit spoke of Sano's marriage at the age of 15 in the midst of her striving to balance between different worlds of Pontic Greek, Assyrian, Armenian and Turkish peoples.
Receiving congrats on her work, Thea Halo signed the books purchased by the members and thanked everyone for the interesting and enlightening conversation, before accepting a dinner invitation in a local restaurant at the commercial district of Neo Psychiko.
